About Teach Nutrition

At Teach Nutrition you’ll find food and nutrition resources as well as professional development opportunities that support positive attitudes and behaviours related to food and eating. Because of Dairy Farmers of Canada’s longstanding commitment to essential nutrition education, we’re able to make great resources designed and delivered by our Registered Dietitians, at no cost to you.

Who Are We?

We are a team of Registered Dietitians in Alberta who work collaboratively with educators, teachers, and community stakeholders to create engaging, high-impact nutrition resources. Everyone’s understanding of food and nutrition develops over their lifetime, which is why we have resources to take you from early learning in child care (ELCC) to grade 12, plus background information for adults.

All our resources introduce concepts at the right time and offer developmentally appropriate activities that allow for knowledge development and skill building. We are intentional about framing nutrition education in ways that provide children and youth with opportunities to foster a relationship with food and their body that serves them throughout their life.

Dairy Farmers of Canada has a longstanding commitment to essential nutrition education. Our work is informed by Canada’s Food Guide, which is part of Alberta’s ELCC licensing requirements and K–12 curriculum. As a result, when we talk about milk products, it’s in the context of overall eating patterns.

Who is Teach Nutrition for?

Teach Nutrition is for early learning in child care (ELCC) educators and K–12 teachers looking for cross-curricular food and nutrition resources and professional development opportunities.

If teaching children and youth about food and nutrition is new to you, welcome to an exciting world of learning! If you’ve been doing this for a while, we hope you find some new and exciting resources to add to your repertoire.

Why use our resources?

Whether you are following children’s interest in food within your child care setting or have food- and nutrition-related curriculum outcomes to meet with your students, we have the materials you need.

Instead of spending hours researching nutrition topics, planning activities, and making slides or worksheets, explore our free resources. We always include background information for educators and teachers alongside engaging materials for children and youth, such as videos, worksheets, and slide decks, that you can use right away. Our team of Registered Dietitians applies theory to practice and always includes educator and teacher input in our materials so you can feel confident using Teach Nutrition resources.
