Students can explore Canada’s Food Guide and apply their learnings to real world scenarios using this online workbook. This resource is intended for both online and in-class learning environments.
You’ve probably come across the updated Canada’s Food Guide (CFG) that was released in 2019. Most of us are familiar with the image of the plate divided into three sections for vegetables and fruits, whole grain foods, and protein foods; however, Canada’s Food Guide is so much more. CFG includes an online suite of resources including videos, recipes, and tips that provide guidance about eating habits.
This online workbook guides students in learning about the fundamental concepts of the Canada’s Food Guide Plate and facilitates a deeper understanding of concepts within the guide. It will give students the opportunity to apply learnings to real world scenarios and encourage critical thinking about the messages provided by Canada’s Food Guide.
This resource includes:
- Grade 4-9 Teacher Guide - including background information and answer key
- Grade 4-9 Student Workbook – available as fillable PDF or worksheet to print for your students. This is available in both English and French.
There’s more! Throughout the year we will be releasing additional resources to further explore Canada’s Food Guide, including:
- Be mindful of your eating habits
- Cook more often
- Enjoy your food
- Eat meals with others
