Statement by Pierre Lampron, President of Dairy Farmers of Canada, in response to yesterday's Nik Nanos Poll

“While we are very pleased by the important findings released today by Nanos Research- they are not surprising. Poll after poll has consistently shown that Canadians overwhelmingly support dairy farmers, and the system they use to produce their made-in-Canada products. These results also re-affirm that a majority of Canadians want Canada to strongly defend the dairy sector during the ongoing NAFTA re-negotiations. The strong backing of our fellow Canadians continues to be critical at a time when our dairy farmers are under constant attack by the U.S. Administration.

“Dairy farmers work hard to provide Canadians with fresh, local products, and the sector is proud to support the 221,000 Canadians families who depend on the dairy sector for their livelihood. On behalf of our farmers, we want to thank Canadians for their continued support.”
