Feeding Canada: Farm Animal Care

You and your grades 7–12 students will explore animal well-being on the farm in this engaging lesson plan featuring class discussion, activities, and a video featuring Canadian farmers, researchers, and veterinarians.

In the second video of this six-part series, your class will be introduced to the concept of animal welfare in the food system, with a focus on production and processing.  

 

Through class discussion, activities, and reflection questions, students will 

  • Explain what a code of practice is, 

  • Identify at least three ways farmers demonstrate positive animal care 

  • Explain why the welfare of farm animals is important to farmers.
