DFC comments on GoC diafiltered milk media availability

News Release Ottawa

We are eager to meet with the government on diafiltered milk, and to have this long-standing situation resolved as soon as possible.

Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) appreciates the Government of Canada's continued support towards supply management. Although disappointed that the government did not announce a solution to the displacement of our Canadian milk by diafiltered milk, we are pleased to sit down again to ensure this problem is fixed within the next 30 days.

We are eager to meet with the government on diafiltered milk, and to have this long-standing situation resolved as soon as possible. The issue of diafiltered milk continues to have a huge negative impact on Canada's dairy farmers. Only an urgent resolution will allow farmers in the fields to concentrate on their work, and stop worrying about their futures.

Over the next 30 days, the government and DFC will have a lot of work to do to resolve both the issues of diafiltered milk, and CETA compensation. DFC is ready to work jointly with the federal government to come to an urgent resolution.
