Fresh milk usually comes from farms within 200 km of major cities across Canada. Other dairy products can travel further, so that people in BC can choose cheeses made in Manitoba or Quebec, and Atlantic Canada can choose to purchase Ontario ice cream. And there is a way for consumers to be sure they are choosing a dairy product that is made with 100% Canadian milk. That’s our Blue Cow logo! It means that the milk in that product comes from Canadian farms and meets Canadian standards, which are among the highest in the world. One note, processors can choose to use this logo or not, and this means it is possible to find dairy products made entirely with Canadian milk that do not carry this logo.
