Iced Caramel Milk

What could be more comforting than a glass of cold milk? Throw in some homemade caramel and you're in for a treat! Whether you're looking for a morning fix or a late-afternoon energy boost, this iced caramel milk is simply perfect!

Ingredients

  • For the caramel
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) Canadian milk, warm
    or
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) store-bought caramel
  • Assembly
  • 5 or 6 ice cubes
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup (150 to 200 ml) Canadian milk

Preparation

Pour the sugar in a small saucepan with high walls and melt over low heat, stirring with a spatula.

Increase the heat to caramelize the sugar, and when it has a nice amber colour, pour in 3 tablespoons of hot milk. Be careful, it will release steam!

Reduce heat to low. Whisk the caramel until smooth

Reduce slightly and remove from heat. Let stand at room temperature.

Pour half the caramel sauce into a tall glass, add 5-6 ice cubes and pour the milk over the top.

Stir and serve!

Tips

Add a double espresso to this recipe for a caffeinated version!
