Statement on the Canadian Dairy Commission’s farmgate milk pricing announcement
Canadian dairy farmers remain committed to providing Canadian families with a reliable domestic supply of nutritious, high-quality milk, while strengthening Canada’s food sovereignty at a time of increasing global uncertainty.
While dairy farmers acknowledge the price adjustment of 2.8%, we are disappointed that the Canadian Dairy Commission decided to implement an increase that is below what it costs to produce milk even as farmers continue to face rising production costs - from utilities to fuel and fertilizer – driven by geopolitical instability.
Amidst these challenges, Canadian dairy farmers remain committed to providing Canadian families with a reliable domestic supply of nutritious, high-quality milk, while strengthening Canada’s food sovereignty at a time of increasing global uncertainty.
