Basic Butter Tart Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250 ml (1 cup) packed brown sugar
  • 125 ml (½ cup) brown corn syrup
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) melted Canadian butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) salt
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) Canadian cream
  • 12 frozen store-bought tart shells

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 175 ºC (350º F).

Place tart shells onto a baking sheet.

In a large bowl whisk together brown sugar, corn syrup, melted Canadian butter, 2 eggs, vanilla, salt, and cream. Do this by hand as you do not want to over mix or it will result in very runny tarts!

Once mixture is smooth, pour syrup mixture into tart shells. Be sure to not fill past 2/3rids as the mixture will bubble and rise while cooking. Bake tarts for 25 minutes.

Once the tarts are done cooking, remove from the oven and allow to fully cool (about 15 minutes).

Dig in and enjoy!
