Linguine with Shrimp and Creamy Tomato Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) Canadian butter
- 1 small onion finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 can (28 oz/796 mL) tomatoes with juice
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) dry white wine
- 2 tsp (10 mL) dried basil
- 1 tsp (5 mL) dried oregano
- 1 tsp (5 mL) dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp (1 mL) hot chili flakes
- 1 lb (450 g) linguine or fettucine
- 1 cup (250 mL) Canadian 35 % cream
- 1 lb (450 g) large cooked shrimp shelled
- Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation
In large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Sauté onion and garlic; cook for 5 min or until soft. Add tomatoes, crushing with back of spoon, white wine, herbs and chili flakes. Bring to a boil, then simmer stirring occasionally for 15 to 20 min or until thick.
Meanwhile, cook pasta according to directions on package until al dente. Drain well.
Add cream to thickened tomato sauce; simmer until sauce-like consistency. Add shrimp, salt and pepper and cook until heated through. Toss pasta with sauce and serve immediately.
