Ingredients

  • Cookies
  • 1 cup (220 g) unsalted Canadian butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup (205 g) brown sugar
  • ¼ cup (50 g) sugar
  • ¼ cup (55 g) maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups (330 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp (5 g) baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Maple Glaze
  • 4 tbsp (20 ml) maple syrup
  • 4 tbsp (20 ml) Canadian table cream
  • 1 cup (220 g) icing sugar

Preparation

Preheat oven to 190 °C (375 °F) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, beat together the butter, brown sugar, and sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla, then mix until smooth.

Add the flour, baking powder, and salt, and mix just until combined.

Using a large spoon (about ¼ cup of dough), form balls and place 3–4 per sheet. Bake for 6 minutes.

After 6 minutes, open the oven door and bang the baking sheet firmly against the rack 3 times. Continue baking for 2 minutes, bang again, and repeat twice more for a total of 12 minutes.

Let cookies cool completely before baking the next batch.

For the glaze: Whisk the cream and maple syrup together, then stir in the icing sugar. Pour into a piping bag (or small plastic bag), cut a tiny corner, and drizzle over the cooled cookies. Enjoy!
