This is the Turnip Mash with Cheddar & Black Pepper recipe.

- 1 1/2 lb (675 g) turnip
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup (60 mL to 80 mL) Milk
- 1 cup (250 mL) Mild Canadian Cheddar grated
- 1/3 cup (80 mL) unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Peel and cut turnip into small cubes. Cook in boiling salted water until tender, then drain well. Puree in a food processor with the oil and the milk until smooth.
Transfer to a clean pan and heat through. Beat in the Canadian Cheddar and 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter. Season with salt to taste. Transfer to a warm serving dish.
Melt remaining butter with cracked black pepper. Pour it over the puree and serve right away.
