Milk Pricing Announcement

Statement Ottawa

DFC offered the following statement on the Canadian Dairy Commission’s farmgate milk pricing announcement.

“Today, the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC) announced a slight decrease in the farmgate price of milk. The supply management system in dairy operates in such a way that when production costs go up at the farm (taking into account any changes to the consumer price index), this can be reflected in the price of the milk at farmgate. Conversely when production costs go down, so can the price of milk entering the supply chain, as is the case now,” said David Wiens, President of Dairy Farmers of Canada. “The National Pricing Formula will be applied on February 1st, 2025, once approved by provincial authorities.”
