Ingredients
- 1 (1 lb/500 g) loaf French bread
- 1/4 cup (60 mL) butter softened
- 1 garlic clove finely chopped
- 4 medium tomatoes thinly sliced
- 2 cups (500 mL) shredded Canadian Cheddar*
- 6 slices crisp cooked bacon crumbled
- Chopped fresh parsley

Preparation
Slice bread horizontally in half. Combine butter and garlic and spread over cut surfaces of bread. Layer each bread half with tomato slices and Canadian Cheddar. Sprinkle with bacon and parsley.
Place bread on baking sheet lined with wire racks. Place sheet on preheated grill and cook, with lid closed, over low heat until bread is crisp and cheese is melted, about 8 to 10 minutes. Slice to serve.
Tips
*For a change of taste, use Canadian Swiss, Monterey Jack.
