CUISINONSENFAMILLE.CA: The New Portal to Discover the Pleasure of Cooking with Your Kids

News Release Montreal

Today, the team of Registered Dietitians at Dairy Farmers of Canada unveils its brand-new website cuisinonsenfamille.ca.

The new platform, which aims to assist parents in passing down their cooking skills to their children, provides practical tips and information to help and encourage parents to get their kids involved in meal preparation.

With the new website (in French only), the Registered Dietitians at Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) provide concrete tools to raise awareness among families about the benefits of cooking together and, above all, to show that it’s both fun and feasible to cook with your kids. The campaign is also supported by “I love 5 to 10 servings a day,” which is spearheaded by the Quebec Produce Marketing Association (QPMA).

What will you find at cuisinonsenfamille.ca?

  • Realistic advice, practical tips and enjoyable recipes just for the fun of cooking with your kids and creating memories that’ll last a lifetime.
  • The episodes of the web series Les mains dans les plats to inspire parents and encourage families to cook together.
  • Simple recipes to make as a family for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.

Why cook together as a family?

There are many good reasons to involve your kids in making meals. In addition to being a good way to spend time together and develop your children’s food preparation skills, cooking together as a family helps get kids interested in and curious about different foods, develop their independence, and build their confidence, pride and self-esteem, while encouraging the adoption of a healthy diet.

In addition, according to Extenso’s report entitled Tout le monde à table [Everyone at the table], nearly 80% of children in Quebec would like to be more involved in meal preparation—so there is a real opportunity here for cooking together as a family!

“The team of Registered Dietitians at Dairy Farmers of Canada firmly believes that learning to cook from an early age is a good way to give your kids lifelong skills, especially ones that will lay the foundation for a healthier, more balanced diet. That’s why we developed the “Cuisinons en famille” website, a user-friendly platform to help parents and children discover the world of cooking through concrete tips, accessible and enjoyable recipes and entertaining videos,” explains Julie Paquette, Assistant Director of Nutrition at Dairy Farmers of Canada.
