Butter Candles
Candles are great, but a candle you can eat is even better! Check out this viral butter candle recipe.

Ingredients
- 1 cup (250 ml) Canadian butter, softened
- 4 tbsp (60 ml) honey
- 2 limes, juice and zest
- 2 minced habanero pepper, seeded and stemmed
- ¼ cup (60 ml) minced chives
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ tsp (3 ml) salt
- ½ tsp (3 ml) black pepper
- 1 paper cup (250 - 475ml)
- Edible candle wick (with sustainer)
- Serve with
- Fresh baguette
- Charcuterie of your choice

Preparation
Add room temperature Canadian butter into a mixing bowl.
Add honey, lime juice and zest, habanero, chives, garlic, salt and pepper to Canadian butter, and mix until well combined.
Cut a small hole at the bottom of a paper or plastic cup, and feed the edible candle wick through the cup hole until the sustainer meets the underside of the cup.
Fill the cup with the butter mixture, making sure the wick is centered.
Refrigerate the cup until butter is firm.
Cut the paper cup off the candle and place on a serving plate of your choice. Trim the wick if needed
Light the candle, dip your baguette (or other sides of your choice) into the melted honey habanero butter, and enjoy!
Tips
This Honey Habanero compound butter recipe, can also be served at room temperature, without being moulded into a candle.
