Cheese Snack

This is the Cheese Snack recipe.

Yields 6 slices of bread

Ingredients

  • 6 home baked, firm slices of white bread
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter
  • 3 cups (750 mL) grated Canadian Gouda or Canadian Fontina
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) fresh parsley finely chopped

Preparation

Bake bread rounds in a 200 °F (90 °C) oven for 45 minutes, directly on oven rack. Turn oven off and leave toast in closed oven for 1 hour.

Melt butter in a big frying pan, on low. Add toast and cook, turning, until golden brown on both sides. Sprinkle with cheese and parsley and bake under grill until golden brown. Serve hot.
