Crusty Sunny Side-up Eggs

Ingredients

  • 4 thick slices of crusty bread
  • Butter
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

With glass, cut a 2-inch (5 cm) hole in centre of bread slices. Butter generously one side of each slice. In large skillet, heat 1 tbsp (15 mL) butter. Place bread slices in skillet, 2 at a time, buttered side down.

Break one egg in each hole at the centre of bread slices. Cook until preferred doneness. Turn bread slices, if desired. Serve immediately 2 sunny side-up slices of bread per person with toasted bread cutouts.
