Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup (180 mL) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp (7 mL) baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp (7 mL) sugar
  • 1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt
  • 1 cup (250 mL) shredded Canadian Cheddar* cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup (250 mL) Milk
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) butter melted
  • Sautéed apple wedges
  • Maple syrup

Preparation

In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Stir in Canadian Cheddar cheese.

In small bowl, lightly beat egg; stir in milk and butter. Add to dry ingredients, all at once, stirring just until moistened.

For each pancake, spread 1 level tbsp (15 mL) batter in lightly-greased frypan or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface; turn and brown underside.

Serve with sautéed apple wedges and maple syrup.

Sautéed apple wedges:

Peel apples if desired, cut into wedges and sauté in 1 tbsp (15 mL) of butter until tender.

Tips

* Or you can use shredded Canadian Colby cheese.
