Lunar New Year Egg Tarts

Every lunar new year my mom asks me to make these egg tarts! Let me show you this incredibly simple recipe.

Lunar New Year Egg Tarts

Ingredients

  • 2 egg yolks
  • ½ cup (125 ml) Canadian milk
  • ⅔ cup (160 ml) Canadian cooking cream
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) sugar
  • 1 ½ tbsp (22.5 ml) Canadian sweetened condensed milk
  • 10 frozen egg tart shells
  • 1 bag of red bean paste (optional)

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C)

Mix the egg yolk and sugar.

Add in the milk and cream together and continue mixing.

Add in the condensed milk.

(Optional) Squeeze a coin size of red bean paste in the egg tart shells.

Pour the mixture into the egg tart shells, about ¾ full.

Let it sit for 5 minutes to eliminate any air bubbles.

Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Chill for 5-10 minutes, and enjoy!
