Macaroni and BBQ Pork in Milk Broth

This delicious one-pot meal includes foods from all of the four food groups in Canada’s Food Guide. Pork and milk are both excellent sources of protein, which helps build strong muscles and antibodies. Carrots and snow peas contain fibre for good health. Pasta provides carbohydrates for energy.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (750 mL) Milk
  • 1/3 lb (150 g) barbecued pork or any cooked meat diced
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) carrot diced
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) macaroni cooked
  • 1 cup (250 mL) snow peas coarsely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

In a medium saucepan, bring milk, pork and carrot to a light boil on medium heat. Reduce to low heat and cook for 3 minutes.

Increase to high heat and add macaroni and snow peas. Bring to a boil and cook for another minute. Add salt and pepper to taste and serve.
